Collaboration the key to success

As I attend a number of industry events, I’m really encouraged by the amount of collaboration. It’s a common theme helping to grow businesses.

Last month’s Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) conference for oil and gas exploration and production companies reaffirmed this. The conference highlighted the need for companies to become more tech savvy as the economy transitions from the old to the new. Vitally important to this transition is the need for industry to collaborate with each other, researchers and education facilities. Innovative new technologies are creating opportunities through the Internet of Things, GigCity (connecting innovation precincts to internet speeds 100 times faster than the national average) and big data applications.

The Manufacturing Technologies Centre at Mawson Lakes collaborates with industry, business and universities on new, disruptive technologies. It educates companies on additive manufacturing, advanced materials, photonics, robotics and automation, digital technology and big data. ICN members have the opportunity to participate in the workshops held at the centre. Visit www.mtc.sa.gov.au.

This edition of the newsletter outlines a number of project portals currently open on the ICN Gateway. We look forward to receiving your Expressions of Interest!

Support Australia's defence force
Small to medium businesses in South Australia have the opportunity to support the acquisition and sustainment of Defence Australia’s maritime, land, air and joint systems capital equipment and systems projects.  Expressions of interest are being sought in support of Babcock’s application to be a major service provider for the Department of Defence’s Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group.  This is a fantastic opportunity for South Australian businesses.
